How to pick a good (HVAC) Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor.
Well after working for eight different heating and air conditioning companies in our day. Essentially I’ve got just about every single HVAC certification, HVAC certification.
So how to pick a good heating and air conditioning contractor looking for a good heating and air conditioning company, one of the first things that you want to do is find out if they’re Licensed and that’s very easy to do in the state you live in. Try by visiting their website and find out whether they have a valid heating air conditioning license.
Okay, the next thing that I would want to do is to find out if the company has NATE certified technicians, the website to go there is to go to HVAC our advice. That’S HVAC our advice.com, that’s the official site where you can find out which companies employ Nate certified technicians. Now, why is that important?
Nate certification is recognized by every single HVAC manufacturer. As the certification agency of choice for certified technicians.
Now that’s a pretty strong statement. If every single manufacturer says you should have Nate certified technicians – okay, so that’s easy to do, but lets dig a little bit deeper when you’re there, because you’ll find companies that have Nate certified technicians. If you take a look you’ll find out that most have at least one named certified technicians working for their company. So, check make sure they at least have one Nate certified employee.
It’s important for you to at least check for this Certification because these are the few things that you should look for in a good HVAC contractor. A good contractor is one who has at least been part of professional organizations or at least been in business for a minimum of 8 years.
Even if you’re a decent heating and air conditioning company, you would still belong to the professional organization.
As we know great organization offer great training and, if you’re a member in our facebook group, you’re highly aware of our HVAC companies and many professional organizations on our platform.
One of the things that we’d look for is how many years of heating and air conditioning experience and how long have they’ve been in business. The reason why is because, heating and air conditioning business are first in the industry in the United States that go bankrupt next to the Restaurants were they come in number 2… HVAC companies have took the glory for the number one spot for bankruptcies!
So if a company generally survives for years, then they’ll probably survive a little longer, if you use that kind guide. You’d say they need to be at least in business for a minimum of 4 years. And if so, if you’ve installed your product that’s going to last 20 years, you’d like somebody to service it for the those remaining 20 years.
Another good source of finding a good heating and air conditioning contractor is, of course, online reviews.
A great way to read reviews is find out and look at the bad ones as well – you can actually get a good feel on how a good company treats their customers.
We recommend to be smart about it, there’s always ways companies can enhance their review statuses online, so don’t just go stumbling to any review site, a simple Google search would do the trick. Sites like Yelp, Angie’s List or Facebook, go to as many different sites as you can for consistency.
Good reviews as well bad ones – read them thoroughly and attempt to figure out complaints and incidents on what happened. Often you’ll be able to read between the lines and find out. It might not be a bad company, it might be a bad customer.
A few things we were able to find about a company in finding ways around their bad reviews. So, How did we you do that? Well, it’s simple!
They just shut down their website and start a different one, and so then you you can manipulate and get rid of all of your bad review. So the number of reviews is also an important thing to look out for.
Another good way to check out a heating and air conditioning company is to check them out with the Better Business Bureau.
You could do that easily by going to the BBB.com website. You can easily type In the name of the company and check them out and see what their reviews are like. Because customers like to leave reviews on personal website however the Better Business Bureau likes to have a rating system of their own.
Just to be a little bit cautious, a simple A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau doesn’t neccessarily mean theres no complaints it just means, whether or not complaints were resolved or not. And so it’s a good indicator of how good Of a company is by how many complaints they’ve had and resolved.
So its not recommend to just look at their rating to find out how good of a company is. Overall you can tell whether a customer has an issue or whether a a customers has bad intent…
To sum it up its always best do your homework. There are a lot of good companies out there, but there are also some scoundrels, with these awesome tools that I’ve given, you should be able to avoid most of them. Good luck.
